Managers of today are called upon to re-invent and re-purpose a number of their strategies. However, the fundamental principles of management are still of utmost importance: effective administration, organization, planning, Time Management, empathic collaboration with teachers & administrative staff, proper staff selection strategies, team building, imaginative public relations and parent management and communication are the “keys to success”. The Course will cover the following major areas: Principles of Leadership & Effective Management, School Organization & Administration, Staff Selection, Public Relations, Dealing with Parents, Teacher Training & Development.

  2. Oct. 15, Unit 2: “Time Management & Staff Management”, Coaching, Team definition and Team
    Building Strategies.
  3. Oct. 29, Unit 3: “The Leader’s Profile” Leadership and Management/Administration. Leadership
    Techniques, a Leader’s goals.
  4. Nov. 12, Unit 4: “Public Relations”, Who are your ‘clients’? What is the school’s ‘presence’ within the community and what ‘image’ do you project?
  5. Nov. 26, Unit 5: “Parent Management & Communication” Part I, Who, What, When, Where, How often?
  6. Dec. 10, Unit 6: “Parent Management & Communication” Part II, Case Studies, Interactive discussion of actual problems/issues.
  7. Jan. 7, Unit 7: “The Art of the Interview: Administrative & Teaching Staff Selection”: Successful staff selection depends on a well-organized
    and inspired procedure: application, interview, case-studies/demo-teaching.
  8. Jan. 21, Unit 8: “School Administration and
    Organization, Part I” Organization, Policies, Filing System, Scheduling.
  9. Feb. 4, Unit 9: “School Administration and Organization, Part II”, Curriculum Planning & Syllabus
    Design, Materials Development.
  10. Feb. 18, Unit 10: “Teacher Training &
    Development”, What are your “roles”? What are your “support systems”? Teacher Training, Effective Staff Meetings.
