June 26: ” ‘A Teacher is Always a Student’: Materials and Sources for Learners and Teachers”

Trainer: Suzanne Antonaros
Directors and senior teachers can improve the quality of teaching at their schools: set up a treasure of sources for further development with templates for the creation of integrated skills activities for various levels, an easy-access organization of materials for learners of all levels and ages (focusing on skills practice) and create categories with blogs and links to videos and podcasts for teachers to use to create mash-ups and to further their professional development.

July 3: “Adapting Materials for Mixed Ability Classrooms”
Trainer: Eman El Difrawy

All classes are mixed ability to one extent or another, which is very challenging for the teacher. The key strategy for teaching mixed level classes is developing a variety of work, suitable for different levels. What are the different techniques that can be applied to content in order to bring about change?

July 10: “How to Adapt the Coursebook to Assess Young Learners’ Writing Skills”

Trainer: Eman El Difrawy
Writing can be one of the most challenging skills to acquire for young learners. How to design assessment tasks in writing? What strategies can we use face to face and online? We can adapt coursebook materials to create tasks which allow us to assess young leaners’ progress and achievement in writing.

July 17: “Make-Your-Own-Materials Workshop: Learning Aids for Children”

Trainer: Suzanne Antonaros
Children love to make and do things while they learn. Their desire to create their own environment, handle objects and play games can enrich the English lesson. With a language learning aim in mind, participants will make a number of practical, hands-on materials for their pupils to use in class: board games, flash cards, pocket board materials, puppets and appropriate wall decorations. Ideas for adapting aids for online lessons, too.
